Firm Overview, Partners
After practicing for seventeen years in Providence, Mr. Kenyon opened his own firm in South Kingstown in 1971. In 1975 he brought James V. Aukerman on board to form the firm of Kenyon and Aukerman, which in 2005 became Kenyon & McLeod, LLP. In 1964, Mr. Kenyon joined with fellow South Kingstown attorney Woodrow Tucker to form the South Country Real Estate Title Company. SCRETIC and its affiliate, Priority Title Company, have examined and insured thousands of properties in South County. Mr. Kenyon has argued successfully in many courts and has established legal precedence with cases brought before the United States Court of Appeals First Circuit and the Rhode Island Supreme Court. He has represented numerous homeowners and developers before the Coastal Resources Management Council, the Department of Environmental Management and various municipal planning and zoning boards. Mr. Kenyon served as the Town Solicitor for the Town of Richmond for fifteen years and held the same position in South Kingstown for six years. He was the First Probate Judge in Richmond in the early 1970s, served as Chairman of the first South Kingstown Charter Commission and has been South Kingstown's Town Moderator from 1992 through 2004. Mr. Kenyon is a member of the Washington County, Rhode Island and American Bar Associations. An active member of the community, Mr. Kenyon has been the chairman of a number of local charitable drives, including the March of Dimes and Heart Fund. He has been the Commodore of the Point Judith Yacht Club and the Exalted Ruler of the South Kingstown Elks Lodge #1899. Mr. Kenyon is a member of Christ the King Church, the Dunes Club, and the Point Judith Country Club. He enjoys tennis, golfing, and boating. Mr. Kenyon has been very active in the Lion's Club, serving both as co-chairman of the annual Seafood Heritage Festival and as president of the club. He is a member of the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce and the Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers' Association. He is a member of the Washington County and Rhode Island Bar Associations. Mr. Kenyon together with his wife, Laura, and their two daughters, Caitlin and Kelly, are avid skiers and golfers. Steve Kenyon concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, commercial real estate, mortgage and secured transactions, commercial leases and leasing. Ms. McLeod is a member of the Washington Bar Association and the Rhode Island Bar Association where she serves as a member of the Environmental Law Committee. She also holds membership in the Rhode Island Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Attorney McLeod serves on the Board of Directors for the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston, Rhode Island and is an active member of that organization's Executive and Performance Committees as well.
